Michael is a science writer and author and is news editor of Physics World magazine. He is based in Bristol, UK.

His first book — The Secret Science of Baby — will be published on 25 October 2022 and looks into the fascinating, and surprising, physics behind conception, pregnancy and babyhood.

Over the past decade, Michael has covered the latest breakthroughs in physics, reporting from countries such as China, Japan, South Korea and the US.

Michael has also written for Nature, BBC Focus and Science Uncovered as well as appeared on BBC Radio 4.

Prior to joining Physics World, Michael carried out a PhD in condensed-matter physics at the Max Planck Institute for Solid State Physics in Stuttgart, Germany.
